I like to be able to be productive in the early morning rather than after that time. Especially not after lunch, I always get sleepy after lunch. However, today I have to come to the class at 10 am. In my mind I know I have to go to the class, but my body feels like it was a holiday since it's not early morning anymore.
Well, I'm still going though…
Anyway, today, people from NHS, coming to our school to give a short presentation about mental health. They want to give us tips if we or our friends have some mental problem such as depression or suicidal thought. In short, we can contact them if we need some help with our mental issues.
I feel that most of my friend didn't really understand and didn't really care about it, considering how they react uninterested. I can't really blame them, I just like that before.
But, I change my attitude.
Now I have a different attitude about it. I think about it seriously but not at the point where I want to become a volunteer, but at least I'm at the point where I'm aware of it.
First of all, back in my country, the majority of people that I know underestimate how important mental health is and how it could be very dangerous if it not treated early and seriously. As I said before, I just like that before. On my mind at that time "if it not affecting me, I don't really want to know about it".
Most of us did not get any education or information about it so we don't know anything about it. Sometimes, we also consider that as weakness and rather than helping them, some of us even insult them because we think they are weak.
Most of us will learn about mental health after the closest friends or family have some kind of mental issues. Most of the case, it was too late. I too don't know anything about it. I'm ignorant about it. So, if you ask anything about it, most of the time I will say I don't know anything about it.
Fortunately, I don't really have those case happen to me.
Rather, I have to thanks to some friends that care enough, learn about it and even become a volunteer to help and spread about mental health. I try to listen to the expert on this matter. I learn about it especially on how it could become serious problems. They tell me about how it could become serious problems if not treated properly. Because of that, I change my attitude from "doesn't care, it's not affecting me" to "it could be a serious problem".
Help to the rescue
I'm quite happy because there is an organisation in this country can help you for this case. Based on what they said in the presentation, they can give us some help or at least they will try to find a way to help you. For me, this kind of thing is showing how brilliant this country is. Maybe, I feel this way because I'm in the country where you have to take care of yourself because the government won't.
They also make us watch this video to show how it works. If you want to know more about it, you can watch it in the video below.
If you are in the UK and want or you know someone that have mental issues including depression or suicidal thought, please do check the official website.
In short, it really easy to get help from them. By calling 111, and selecting option 2, they can help to get you the support you need.
They also offer safe places for you if you need to talk with someone called sanctuary. They told me that this place is not really a medical place like a mental hospital since the people in there is not really a doctor but they at least know about mental issues. At least, they might be able to help you.
Just as I said before, I can't really give you any information about it, I only know the danger but not a person that can give you any information about it.
Because of that, I don't think I'm the correct person if you want to ask something about it. However, I hope it could be useful for anyone that needs it.
