Today is a good and bad day. Well, kind of.
First of all, before you worry, nothing bad really happens. It is a bad day because of the weather. Today there's a light snow (based on weather app). I don't know if it correct, but it doesn't seem to be light snow at all. Well, it just shorts snow though so it's fine.
Anyway, on the bright side, I think today is a productive learning day. I learn a subject that I really want to learn, w
I always consider myself to be a bad communicator. Both informally and formally. I have a problem to sort my thought. Sometimes, I just jump from a point to another point and then suddenly come back to the previous point without any warning. That why the way I speak is not that easy to follow.
It not as bad when writing since I use a computer where you can erase any part you want or move to any point you want. I have the same difficulty when writing on the paper since this convenient thing is not possible (sadly).
That why I want to improve this. That is also why I started this blog in the first place. I know it's not going to fix my conversation problem, but at least it will improve my train of thought (I hope).
Anyway, back to main point.
Today, I was given a task to analyse several presentations. My task is to analyse several points including:
- The Opening
- Use of Voice
Of course, they aren't asking for me to watch the full video. I just have to watch from 33:40 to end. So, it didn't take too much class time. He's talking about the future of English. At that time, I wrote this video title so I can find it out later. I want to hear what the rest of the presentation is all about after the class. It could be a good reference for me.
In addition, I also have to watch this video. What I like about this video is that this presentation is on the inside of program called 3 minutes thesis.
Basically, it is where you have to explain about your thesis in 3 minutes. I think it is good resources for me to learn how to give a good presentation. I know how hard it is to give a presentation in short amount of time. But I have to applaud the woman in the video. I think she's really good at explaining why she's doing it and what is her thesis is all about.
I hope I can be as good as them.
Giving short presentation
And, on the last session of our class, we have to give a presentation, just a short one, about the cultural difference between my hometown and Cambridge. I don't really know now what the difference is since I already get used to living here. I only give them 2 point which is:
- Walking vs Driving
I remember about population because that is the first thing I remember. When I first arrived in Cambridge, I'm kind of afraid when walking on the road. Because I don't really see a lot of people in there. Whereas in my country, wherever I go, there will be people in there.
In addition, we call my home city a small city but we got 900.000 population. 900.000 people are not that much for us. So, I don't know what to call Cambridge since it only got 150.000 population.
The second part is just because I'm a bit lazy. So, I always wish I have my motorcycle when walking somewhere. Here, in Cambridge, I can only use the bus. Well, it's not that bad. Bus, even though they never arrived in time, it still convenient public transportation.
Better than nothing I guess.
